As published in LA Daily News, Daily Journal, MyNewsLA, La Opinion, ABC7 and others, Partner Patrick McNicholas filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and the City of Los Angeles on behalf of nearly 300 victims of the Creek Fires. The lawsuit alleges that LADWP negligently installed and maintained its electrical equipment, and failed to heed high wind weather warnings created to safeguard the impact of overhead power lines.
In his interview with Daily Journal, McNicholas noted that LADWP “negligently fell below California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Nation Weather Service standards by ignoring a well-known risk, creating the perfect storm for disaster when combined with the known presence of dry vegetation, which fuels these types of fires.”
